SITDE #198: Reclamation
Deep Enders,
You made it!
You persevered through pumpkin-spice-latte-season and now you must weather the storms of Mariah-Carey-in-a-loop season.
I believe in you. 😉
Let’s dive in.
Existence
The etymology of “existence” takes us to Middle English and Old French.
To coming into being
To take a stand
This world rotates around routine: Show up at this time and do this thing in this way.
Responsibility calls for some adherence
Reclamation
Much to the chagrin (and embarrassment) of a couple of my children, I’m the guy who will pull over and rescue forlorn furniture at any moment.
My shift into this writing season made me rethink my spaces. I needed a fresh start, so I turned the stray into this this 👇🏾.
Is it the best paint job?
Nope.
Do I care?
Nope.
When you’re carving a new existence, details deter progress.
Reinvention
So, my favorite living rapper picked up a flute.
In a GQ interview, André 3000 describes his venture into this new form of music:
He tries to write but writing is not what comes.
Have you been in a similar place?
You try to do x but x is not what comes?
I've been there 🙋🏿♂️and it's a frustrating world so here’s a tip: Pick up a new instrument.
Or give an old instrument a new try.
I love you.
Stay In The Deep End.
I spend my time speaking, writing, reading and thinking (oh and shuttling five kids across Austin, Texas).
